Caption-Lagao is a free caption generator at captionlagao.com. This policy explains what happens to the video you drop, the audio sent for speech-to-text, cookies, analytics, and advertising. It is written for people, not only for regulators.

Who is responsible

Caption-Lagao is an independent web product. For privacy questions email hello@captionlagao.com or use the contact page.

Uploaded video and audio

The video (or audio) file stays in this browser — typically IndexedDB — so you can edit and export. Caption-Lagao does not put the picture in a public gallery and does not require an account. Audio is sent to a speech-to-text service to produce word timestamps. Treat the transcript as a draft. We do not claim a third-party retention period we cannot verify. Do not upload videos you are not allowed to transcribe.

On some devices, speech recognition can also run in the browser so the clip never has to leave the phone as a full video upload. Either way, the finished MP4 and SRT download to you. We do not keep a server-side library of your projects.

Projects and settings

Project lists, caption styles, and preferences live in local storage on this device. Clearing site data removes them. Editor and project URLs are not meant to be indexed.

Cookies

Caption-Lagao uses three kinds of storage:

• Essential — local storage and IndexedDB so the editor, your video, and caption styles work. These are not advertising cookies. The site cannot caption a file without them.
• Analytics — if you accept analytics cookies and a measurement ID is configured, Google Analytics (GA4) can receive product events such as generate start, export complete, and upload failure. Those events do not include the video file or the transcript text. IP addresses are anonymized when the tag is configured that way.
• Advertising — if you accept ad cookies and we display ads (including Google AdSense or similar networks), those partners may set cookies to measure and, where allowed, personalise ads. You can choose Essential only in the cookie banner.

A cookie banner asks before optional cookies run. You can reopen it with Cookie settings in the footer. Browser controls can also block third-party cookies.

Analytics

Analytics run only after you accept them (or if you previously accepted). We use them to see whether generate and export succeed, not to read your video. If analytics are off, the caption tool still works.

Third-party advertising

We may show third-party ads, including Google AdSense, to keep Caption-Lagao free. Google and other ad partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure ads, and to limit how often you see the same ad. Google’s use of data is described in How Google uses information from sites that use our services. You can opt out of personalised Google ads at adssettings.google.com.

Ads are not shown until you allow advertising cookies, except where a partner is allowed to use non-personalised ads under applicable law. We do not sell your video, transcript, or email list.

California and similar laws

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising unless you accept advertising cookies. You can refuse those cookies. Because projects live on your device, deleting site data is the practical way to erase your captions and video copy here.

European visitors

Optional analytics and ad cookies are off until you opt in. Essential storage is needed to run the editor. To exercise access or deletion rights for anything we might hold (for example an email you sent us), write to hello@captionlagao.com.

Children

Caption-Lagao is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data by email, contact us and we will delete it.

Exports

MP4 and SRT files download to your device. They do not include a Caption-Lagao watermark. Generate captions free.

Changes

If we change how data is handled, we will update this page and the date above. Material advertising or analytics changes will also be reflected in the cookie banner.
