Roman Urdu vs Urdu Script Captions: Which Performs Better
Roman Urdu vs Nastaliq on Reels and TikTok. When Latin-alphabet Urdu wins, and when Arabic-script Urdu still makes sense.

Urdu and Hindi sound almost the same. They differ in script. On a 9:16 Reel, the script you pick changes whether people can actually read the hook.
When Roman Urdu wins
- Audience already types in Roman Urdu (WhatsApp, comments).
- The clip mixes English slang, brand names, and maths.
- You want captions that look like social-native text, not a news ticker.
When Urdu script still helps
- Poetry, naat, or formal address where Nastaliq is the point.
- An older audience that reads Urdu newspapers more than chats.
Caption-Lagao defaults to Roman Urdu for spoken Urdu so Hindi Devanagari never shows up. You can still pick a Naskh style if you export Urdu script on purpose.
