Captions for mixed Urdu and English speech

Most desi talking clips are not one language. A sentence can run Urdu, then an English brand name, then a number. Captions have to keep that mix — not translate everything into one script.

  • Urdu → Roman Urdu
  • English stays English
  • Numbers and names kept as spoken
  • Editable before you export

Sample: mixed Urdu–English captions

Checking audio…

A preview of word-timed captions on a short clip — then you style and export.

Who this is for

For creators who code-switch on camera: tutorials, vlogs, street interviews, and ads aimed at Pakistani and Indian audiences.

The problem

Auto-detect often picks Hindi Devanagari for Urdu, or transliterates English (follow → folow, Instagram → insta graam). Mute viewers then read a language nobody types.

How Caption-Lagao treats the speech

Caption-Lagao can treat the clip as mixed speech: Urdu as Roman Urdu, English tokens left in English, digits kept as digits. You still edit leftover mistakes before export.

Your file

The file stays on this device. Audio is sent to transcribe. Projects are not published.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload the mixed clip

Phone talking-heads and screen-and-face tutorials both work.

  2. 2

    Set mixed or auto speech

Then choose Roman Urdu as caption output if Urdu should be Latin letters.

  3. 3

    Fix leftover tokens

Scan for English that got transliterated and Urdu that landed in the wrong script.

  4. 4

    Style and export

A chat-style or karaoke look usually reads faster than Nastaliq on 9:16.

Do not force every English word into Roman Urdu. Brand names, app names, and loanwords should match the comments under the video.

If a line is half maths or a handle (@name), keep the symbols. Viewers look for those more than a pretty sentence.

Burn-in for Reels and TikTok. SRT if the same talk also goes on YouTube. No watermark on either file.

Questions

Will English words be written as Roman Urdu?

They should stay English when they were spoken in English. Always check the line once — mixed speech is the usual place a draft is wrong.

Can I output full English instead?

Yes. Caption output is a setting. Mixed clips can still be exported as English if that is the audience.

Why not Hindi script?

Hindi Devanagari is the common auto-detect mistake for Urdu speech. Caption-Lagao is built not to show that script on social captions.
